“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” Rev 21:5 (KJV)
Whether a road, rusted rooster weather vane, tumble-down barn, ugly building, dreaded parking meters, or trash cans in a city alley, snow and a wintry snow storm transform the object, the place, the person.
Snow is a metaphor for Christ who covers a multitude of sins by his sacrifice; snow covers and transforms the ugly, the ordinary, to the sublime.
Here’s a photo essay of the grandeur of the ordinary feathered, sprinkled, and dusted with snow from the Heavens by the hand of God.
Twelve years ago moving from Virginia with its maritime climate at the. 37° 55’ 36.7248’’ N latitude to the humid continental climate of South Bend, Indiana at the 41° 40’ 34.9968’’ N latitude, I prayed a snowvena = 9 days of prayer (novena) with the intention of getting snow.
I had not been in a proper Midwest Indiana snow storm - one that shut down highways, libraries, schools, and businesses - for nearly a decade.
The snowvena worked. And nature and all of us were renewed.
